In some way or another, we've all fallen in love in Grand Central Station. Maybe your heart aligned with Dan when Serena Van Der Woodsen made her return, as opulent and imposing as the terminal itself. Perhaps you yearned for the refuge Holden Caulfield found in the station's cavernous waiting rooms. Or maybe, like me, you went head over heels when you first descended into the main concourse, aged marble beneath you and Tiffany blue arches above you.

This is not about Grand Central Station.

This is about Denver's Union Station. Although it doesn't feature in any tales of passion, and Fred Astaire has never danced across its floors, it's just as marvellous.

America's grand old train stations are inimitable. Union Station is up there with the best. And it was for this reason that local blogger Alena and I clamoured up to the Cooper Lounge overlooking the entire station to snap a few images in the clear morning light.

Keep on chugging!
